Ride 1A

Ride 1A is a different sort of Wednesday Wheeler ride:-

We aim to be a bit faster, with an moving average speed of between upper 12's and mid 13's mph and some of our rides are longer.

All our rides have a designated leader who will bring the ride back together after climbs, difficult road junctions, punctures and so on. We try very hard not to leave anyone behind but it does occasionally happen so bring a phone and a map just in case.

We offer a varied programme, including Early Bird Rides and Awayday rides. Early Bird Rides leave York at 08.30 and Awayday rides start away from York. These allow us to explore further afield.

We strive to put together a programme of challenging and interesting routes incorporating notable landmarks and themes. Often we will get off our bikes to visit a church or a feature.

In the last 12 months we have visited at least 8 castles, several ancient churches, a medieval village, Roman remains, a number of battlefields, completed several classic cycle climbs and looked at some pre-historic rocks, lumps and bumps.

We like an elevenses coffee stop but it is not always possible. For lunch we take a packed lunch as this simplifies the organising of the ride.

The details of the ride, including any off-road sections and coffee stops will be described on the Rides Forum, so you will know what to expect. We always provide a GPX track for the ride.
